Cover Reveal: Long Buried

I am so excited to reveal the chilling cover and retail description for Long Buried. It is available for preorder NOW! Long Buried is a psychological thriller and the sixth book in my Doctors of Darkness series. I can’t wait to share it with you!

As a forensic psychologist, I spend a lot of time thinking about where my patients come from. About the particular set of places, people, and circumstances that lead a particular person to do a particular (usually very bad) thing. A hometown is a powerful place. It’s where we start to learn about the world for better or worse. My own origin story began in a small town in Texas, where the cows outnumber the people. Where everybody knows your name and your secrets…well, most of them.

So much of who I am was born in that small town—my resilience, patience, capacity for hard work, and faith in the goodness in others. My creativity too. Because in a small town, you make your own entertainment. Tailgate parties in a pasture? Cow tipping? Hunting wild hogs? That’s just a typical Friday night in the country.

Without the community that raised me, there would be no Ellery Kane. But after eighteen years, I eagerly ventured out into the great big world and took my first plane ride to attend college in Durham, North Carolina. Eventually, I landed in the San Francisco Bay Area, which doesn’t get much farther (literally or figuratively) from rural Texas. No one here says y’all or fixin’ to or over yonder. Both places have entwined themselves into the fabric of who I am. But, if you ask me where I’m from…even now, not having lived there for twenty eight years…it’s that small town that I’ll talk to you about. I told you—A hometown is a powerful place.

On my path to becoming a psychologist, I quickly realized that a hometown can hold power for good or evil. Not everyone flourishes in a small town. For those who don’t fit the mold, it can be suffocating. Intolerant. Stagnating. Scary, even. A small town can feel a lot like a cage.

It’s those experiences…along with a little dose of murder, of course…that I hoped to capture in Long Buried. So without further ado:

The past always rises.

In 1997, the seniors of Sweetbriar High School buried a time capsule at their graduation ceremony. That same night, one of their own—Homecoming Queen Blair Lennox—disappeared without a trace.

Twenty years later, Juniper Pickett returns to Sweetbriar on a mission, driving all night from San Francisco with a world of trouble in her rearview. There’s no going back. Not after what she’s done. Tomorrow, they’ll exhume the time capsule and expose her darkest secret.

When Juniper accidentally unearths the body of her missing classmate, she finds herself with a target on her back in a race to clear her name. Because it’s not true what they say about small towns…

There are strangers.

There are secrets.

And you can go home again. But they’ll never let you leave.

Long Buried is scheduled for release on March 30, 2026. Snag your copy HERE at a special preorder price!
